TABLE DOUG.01

This project is dedicated to the design of a dining table that unites form and function at the highest level, extending far beyond its mere utility.
At its core is locally sourced Douglas fir, whose naturally reddish tone has been deliberately softened. Through the application of an oil enriched with white mineral pigments, a light, calm, and radiant surface is achieved, giving the piece a clear and timeless presence. At the same time, the wood remains breathable and can be refinished whenever needed, ensuring that the surface retains its quality and character over the long term.
The table is constructed entirely from solid wood and crafted using traditional joinery techniques that not only highlight the quality of craftsmanship but, above all, ensure exceptional durability. Of particular note are the detachable sliding dovetail joints in the long aprons, which allow the table to be easily disassembled without compromising its stability. Here, precise craftsmanship and thoughtful functionality come together at the highest level.
The delicate tabletop has been designed with a conscious plank-style aesthetic, allowing it to harmonize seamlessly with interiors where the flooring is also made of Douglas fir and finished in a light tone. As a result, the table does not appear as a foreign object but rather as an integral part of the space, supporting a calm and architectural overall impression.
To manage the natural movement of the wood, stress-relief grooves have been incorporated on the underside of the tabletop, elegantly concealed by a subtle 5-millimeter rebate along the lower edge. In addition, three L-shaped support rails ensure long-term dimensional stability and guarantee that the tabletop maintains its straightness for many years to come.
The result is a table that accompanies its user over time and adapts to the changes of life. It becomes a central place for gathering, exchange, and continuity. A piece of furniture that does not merely endure, but grows alongside life and provides a sense of lasting stability.
Influenced by iconic minimalist furniture design, reimagined in solid Douglas fir and traditional joinery.
